To send business SMS or MMS messages to US recipients from a standard 10-digit US local number, you need to complete US A2P 10DLC registration.
The registration verifies your business, confirms how you plan to use SMS, and links your approved messaging use case to the phone numbers you will send from.
In this article, we’ll guide you through the full setup process in SleekFlow, from creating your business profile to linking your phone numbers.
Before you begin
Make sure you have already configured the following:
- A US local phone number added to your SleekFlow workspace
- Permission to manage channels
- Sufficient balance in your SMS and Voice wallet to cover applicable registration fees
⚙️ Note: Toll-free numbers use a separate verification process and should not be registered through US 10DLC, refer to this article for more details: Toll-free verification
How US 10DLC registration works
US 10DLC setup in SleekFlow has four steps:
- Customer Profile: Verifies your business identity
- Brand: Registers your business as a US SMS sender
- Campaign: Explains what messages you will send and how customers consent to receive them
- Link phone numbers: Connects your approved Campaign to the US local numbers you will use for messaging
You need to complete these steps in order. Your brand must be approved before you can create a campaign, and your campaign must be verified before you can link your phone numbers.
Access the US 10DLC setup page
To start your registration:
- Click
on the left navigation bar to go to “Channels” - Select “SMS and Voice” and Go to “US SMS setup”
- Select “US 10DLC”
From this page, you can create and manage customer profiles, brands, campaigns, and linked phone numbers.

Information to prepare
Make sure you have the following ready:

- A description of how you plan to use SMS
- Details of how customers opt in to receive your messages
- Sample messages that reflect what you will actually send
- Privacy policy and terms of service links, where required
Step 1: Create a customer profile
A customer profile verifies the business that is applying for US 10DLC registration.

To create a customer profile:
- On the US 10DLC setup page, click “Create customer profile”
- Complete and review each section of the form

- Legal business name: Enter your complete legal business name exactly as it appears in your official registration or tax records.
- Notification email: Enter the email address that will be used to receive updates from Twilio
- Business type: Select your company’s legal structure, such as Corporation, LLC, Partnership, or Non-profit Corporation.
- Industry: Select the category that best matches your company’s main business activity.
- Business registration identifier: Select the type of registration number you are providing, such as a US EIN or another official company registration ID.
- Business registration number: Enter the registration number that corresponds to the identifier you selected.
- Website URL: Enter your official business website. It should be publicly accessible and clearly represent your company.
- Social media profile URL (optional): Enter a public business profile, such as LinkedIn or Facebook, if you want to provide additional supporting information.
- Business regions of operation: Select the countries or regions where your business operates.
- Business address: Enter the registered business address associated with your company. Make sure the address matches the information shown in your official company or tax records.
- Authorized representative: Provide the first name, last name, business title, job position, phone number, and email address of the person authorized to represent your company.
- Submit the customer profile for verification
Note: Double-check that your legal business name, registration number, registered address, and website are accurate and consistent with your official records. For US businesses, your legal business name should match the name associated with your EIN.
Step 2: Register your brand
Once your customer profile is ready, register your brand. Brand registration identifies your business as the company sending messages to US recipients. It uses the business identity established in your customer profile.
To register your Brand:
- On the US 10DLC setup page, click “Create brand”.
- Click “Select customer profile” and select the customer profile you created in Step 1.
- Enter or confirm your brand information.

- Customer profile: Select the customer profile associated with this brand. Select the one you created in Step 1.

- Company type: Select the nature of your organization: Private, Public, Non-profit, or Government.
- Stock exchange and Stock ticker: If you select “Public”, enter the stock exchange where your company is listed and its ticker symbol.
- Verification email: Enter the business email address you want to use for brand-related verification and communication.
- Review the registration details and applicable fees.
- Click “Submit for review"
Business type vs Company type
- Business type describes your legal structure, such as Corporation or Partnership.
- Company type, which you select later during brand registration, describes the nature of your organization, such as Private, Public, Non-profit, or Government.
Step 3: Create a campaign
Once the brand is approved, you can create a campaign.
A campaign explains how your approved brand will use SMS. Carriers use this information to understand:
- What types of messages will you send?
- Who will receive them?
- How do recipients consent to receive messages?
- How can recipients opt out or ask for help?
To create a campaign:
- On the US 10DLC setup page, locate your approved brand, and click “Add campaign”
- Enter the following details:

- Brand: Select the brand associated with this campaign. Select the one you created in Step 2.
- Campaign name: Enter a name to help you identify the campaign in SleekFlow.
- Use case: Select the option that best matches the messages you plan to send, such as marketing, account notifications etc.Choose the use case that reflects your actual message content.
- Campaign description: Explain what types of messages you will send, who will receive them, and why.
- Message flow: Describe how customers provide their phone number, how they consent to receive SMS, and what happens after they opt in.
- Message samples: Provide complete examples of the SMS messages customers will actually receive. Where applicable, include your business name and opt-out instructions.
- Has embedded links / Has embedded phone numbers: Indicate whether your messages contain URLs or phone numbers.
-
Opt-in, opt-out, and help messages and keywords: Provide the messages customers receive when they:
- Subscribe
- Unsubscribe, for example by sending STOP
- Request help, for example by sending HELP
- Privacy policy URL / Terms of service URL: Add links to your policies where required
- Click “Create campaign” to submit it for review
Prepare your campaign carefully
Your campaign may be rejected if your messaging purpose, opt-in process, sample messages, or unsubscribe flow is incomplete or unclear. Make sure the information you submit reflects how your business will actually use SMS.
Step 4: Link your phone numbers
After your campaign is verified, link the US local phone numbers that will send messages under that Campaign.
A verified campaign does not automatically register every phone number in your workspace. Each number must be linked separately.
To link a phone number:
- On the US 10DLC setup page, locate your verified campaign, click “Link phone numbers”.
- Select one or more eligible US local numbers, and click “Save”
- Wait for the registration status to update.
Note: A verified campaign does not always mean a newly linked phone number is immediately ready to send messages. Additional processing time may be required.
Check that your number is ready to send messages
Before sending SMS, confirm that:
- Your customer profile is verified
- Your brand is approved
- Your campaign is verified
- The correct US local number is linked to the Campaign
- The phone number registration is complete
- The phone number supports SMS
- Your SMS and Voice wallet has sufficient balance
- Your message content matches the use case and consent flow approved in your campaign
Troubleshooting
| Issue | Possible cause | Suggested solution |
| Unable to submit Customer Profile | Required information is missing, invalid, or the SMS and Voice wallet balance is insufficient | Review all required fields and make sure your business registration number, website, email address, and phone number are valid. Confirm that you have permission to manage Channels and sufficient balance in your SMS and Voice wallet before submitting again. |
| Customer profile or brand cannot be verified | Business details do not match official records | Compare the submitted details with your official company or tax records. Make sure your legal business name, registration number, registered address, website, and business type are accurate and consistent, then resubmit the registration. |
| Brand rejected | Carrier verification found inconsistent or incorrect business information | Review the rejection reason shown in SleekFlow and update business information. Avoid creating another brand before resolving the original rejection, as the rejection reason usually identifies what needs to be corrected. |
| Campaign rejected | Use case, consent flow, sample messages, or policies are incomplete or unclear | Review the rejection reason and update the relevant campaign details. Make sure your use case matches the messages you plan to send, your opt-in process clearly shows customer consent. |
| Unable to link a phone number | Campaign is not verified, the number is ineligible, already linked elsewhere, or still processing | Confirm the campaign is verified and that the number is a US local SMS-enabled number that is not already linked to another campaign. |
| Campaign verified but SMS still cannot be sent | The number is not fully registered, SMS and Voice wallet balance is insufficient, or message content does not match the campaign | Check the linked-number status, wallet balance, and approved Campaign use case. If the issue continues, contact SleekFlow support |
Important notes
- Your customer profile, brand, and campaign must represent the same actual message-sending business and its genuine messaging use case.
- Registering a brand isn't enough to start sending SMS messages to US recipients. You also need to create a campaign and link your phone number.
- Prepare and verify your company registration documents, website, authorized representative details, and customer opt-in process before you start.
- Successful registration doesn't mean you can send any type of content. Your messages need to stay consistent with your approved campaign use case and consumer consent flow.
