Configuring "Contacts" action nodes

How to set up action nodes such as "Update contact", "Add label", and "Remove from list"

All action nodes require setting up in a node form, where you specify the parameters for the selected action. In this article, we will guide you on how to set up every “Contacts” action node so your flow can execute the appropriate tasks to achieve your desired outcome.
 

Update contact

The "Update contact" action updates a contact's property with new information. Use this action to update contact details, add new custom fields, or modify existing information to maintain accurate and up-to-date contact records.

Set up the "Update contact" action node form by following the steps below:

  1. Click on the "Update contact" action node to open up its form, which will appear on the right side of the screen


     
  2. The node form contains the following fields for you to configure your action:

             1. Contact property - Select the contact property that you wish to update
             2. Updates to - Enter the new value or content you want to update the 
             selected contact property with. Refer to the Flow variable article to learn more 
             about how to include a dynamic variable in this field
             3. Add property - Add up to 10 contact properties to update within one action 
             node


     

Add to list

The "Add to list" action adds a contact to a list or lists of your choice. Use this action to segment your audience, target specific groups with tailored messages, or trigger workflows based on list membership.

Set up the "Add to list" action node form by following the steps below:

  1. Click on the "Add to list" action node to open up its form, which will appear on the right side of the screen



     
  2. The node form contains the following fields for you to configure your action:

            1. List - Select the contact lists that you want the enrollment contact to be 
            added to


Remove from list

The "Remove from list" action removes a contact from a specific list or lists. Use this action to update contact segments, remove contacts from targeted campaigns, or adjust list membership based on changing criteria.

Set up the "Remove from list" action node form by following the steps below:

  1. Click on the "Remove from list" action node to open up its form, which will appear on the right side of the screen 


     
  2. The node form contains the following fields for you to configure your action:

            1. Remove from - Configure the node to either remove the contact from specific 
            lists or remove the contact from all lists they are in
            2. List - Specify the contact lists you want the contact to be removed from 


     

Add label

The "Add label" action adds a label or labels to a contact's profile. Use this action to categorize contacts, trigger workflows based on labels, or send targeted messages to specific groups based on label attributes.

Set up the "Add label" action node form by following the steps below:

  1. Click on the "Add label" action node to open up its form, which will appear on the right side of the screen


     
  2. The node form contains the following fields for you to configure your action:

            1. Label - Specify the labels you want to add to the enrollment's contact profile
     

Remove label

The "Remove label" action removes a label or labels from a contact's profile. Use this action to update contact categorization, remove contacts from targeted campaigns, or adjust label assignments based on changing criteria.

Set up the "Remove label" action node form by following the steps below:

  1. Click on the "Remove label" action node to open up its form, which will appear on the right side of the screen


     
  2. The node form contains the following fields for you to configure your action:

            1. Remove - Configure the node to either remove specific labels from the contact 
            or remove all labels from the contact
            2. Label - Specify the labels you want to remove from the contact
