The WhatsApp QR code feature is only available for users on the Premium or Enterprise plan.
Team management settings are accessible only to users with the appropriate team-related permissions under Roles and permissions.
The Team WhatsApp QR code feature enables businesses to create and share unique QR codes for each team. When customers scan a team's QR code, they can instantly start a conversation on WhatsApp and are automatically assigned to a team member based on predefined assignment rules.
This simplifies the process of connecting customers with the right team member, improving communication efficiency and response times.
What is a WhatsApp QR code?
A WhatsApp QR code allows customers to quickly start conversations with specific users or teams in your business by scanning a QR code. These QR codes generate pre-filled messages, directing customers to the appropriate WhatsApp channel.
Important notes
- QR code settings can only be configured for teams that have at least one dedicated WhatsApp channel assigned.
- If no dedicated channels are assigned to a team, team members will have access to all channels in your organisation's workspace. In this case, the QR code channel and assignment fields will be unavailable.
Add dedicated channel to team
What is a dedicated channel?
A dedicated channel is a specific channel assigned to a team. Team members can only send messages via their team's assigned dedicated channels. If no dedicated channels are assigned to a team, team members will have access to all channels in your organisation's workspace.
You can follow the steps below to edit settings of a specific team:
- Under "Company settings", go to "Team management"
- Click the
icon that appears next to the team name

- Click “Edit team settings”
- Within the team details page, click the "Edit team settings" button
- In the pop-up window, you can add or update the dedicated channel of the team from the drop down menu
- Once all changes are completed, click "Save"
Download team’s WhatsApp QR code
From the team list:
- Click the
icon in the bottom-left corner to open the “General Settings” page - Under "Company settings", click "Team management"

- In the team list, click the
icon on the relevant team row
A new QR code is generated whenever a team’s name or WhatsApp QR code configurations are updated. Always download the latest QR code to ensure customers use the correct one.
Editing team’s WhatsApp QR code
You can update both the WhatsApp channel tied to a team's QR code and the team member assigned to handle conversations initiated through it. Both settings can be changed directly from the team list.
Editing a team’s WhatsApp QR code channel
The WhatsApp QR code channel determines which WhatsApp channel a customer uses to start a conversation when scanning the team’s QR code.
To update the WhatsApp QR code channel:
- Click the
icon in the bottom left corner to open the “General Settings” page - Under “Company settings”, click “Team management”
- In the “QR code channel” column, use the dropdown to select the desired WhatsApp channel for the team.
Only WhatsApp channels designated as dedicated channels for the team can be selected as the QR code channel
Editing a team’s WhatsApp QR code assignment logic
The assignment logic defines how the system assigns team members to conversations initiated through the team’s QR code.
To update the assignment logic:
- Click the
icon in the bottom left corner to open the “General Settings” page. - Under “Company settings”, click “Team management”
- In the “Assign to” column, use the dropdown to select the desired logic:
- Unassigned: Conversations remain unassigned
- By queue: Assign contacts to team members using a round-robin mechanism
